For this project, PIC developed a
brochure especially for the student of Ute V. Perkins Elementary School, then
went to the school to talk to the kids about trees, why they're important and
how to take care of them. Some trees were then planted, and are now being
maintained by the students.
The Trees are SHADE project was funded by the USDA Forest Service and the Nevada Division of Forestry - Urban and Community Forest Program, with support from the Clark County School District, Nevada Cooperative Extension Service, staff, students, and PTA of Perkins Elementary school, Davis Nursery, Boy Scouts, CDSN, Moapa Town Board and many individuals and businesses.
